Regular Season Round 2: M.Hainaut - Nancy 76-78

Nancy overcame Dexia Mons-Hainaut on the road yesterday. The victory allowed the French team improve at 2-0 record on top of EuroChallenge Group H. Akinlolu Akingbala stepped up with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the visitors. Dexia in the meantime suffered the second consecutive loss at the tournament. Akinlolu Akingbala and Stephen Brun secured a 5:0 start to the game for Nancy. Akinlolu Akingbala, Stephen Brun and Deane paced the French team as they arrived at the first break up by 8 points 23:15. Grant stretched the gap to 9 points for Nancy in the second period but Dexia quickly responded. Dexia went on a 7:0 run to narrow the gap. Ronell Taylor and Ron Lewis helped the hosts tied the score at 37 after twenty minutes of action. Peter van Paassen and Ron Lewis put Dexia in front early in the second half. However Akinlolu Akingbala and John Linehan organized a 12:0 run from the visitors late in the quarter as Nancy retained a 57:46 lead. The French team were up by 8 points heading into the fourth period. It was a 10-point game midway through the final stanza but Dexia found the way to cut the distance to minimum. Foster drained a triple to put the home team as close as one point 76:77 with 48 seconds to go. Ron Lewis then missed a three-pointer, while Deane his one free throw to keep Nancy in charge. Ronell Taylor had a chance to save the game for Dexia but his three-pointer rimmed out. Stephen Brun scored 17 points and pulled down 8 rebounds for Nancy. John Linehan added 13 points, 6 assists and 4 boards in the victory. Ronell Taylor replied with 19 points for Dexia. Ron Lewis provided 18 points in the loss.
