Regular Season Round 5: Orleans - Oostende 70-72

Oostende heated up the intrigue in EuroChallenge Group H. They narrowly defeated Orleans in France to enter a three-team tie on top of the ladder. Oostende, Nancy and Dexia are heading into the last round of the regular season leveled at 3-2 record. Orleans in the meantime got eliminated falling at 1-4 record. Matt Lojeski (198-G-85, college: Hawaii) hit a game-winning jumper to propel Oostende to the important victory in France yesterday. The teams stayed close before Ludovic Vaty knocked down four free throws giving Orleans a 15:10 lead late in the first quarter. Orleans stayed in charge as they entered the second period up by three points 17:14. Aldo Curti and Ludovic Vaty gave the hosts a 7-point lead midway through the second period. Orleans arrived at halftime up by 6 points 37:31. Ludovic Vaty and Troy Bell ensured a double-digit lead midway through the third quarter. Marcus Faison and Thomas narrowed the deficit at 8-point mark with one quarter remaining. Katnic triggered a 10:2 run from the visitors at the start of the fourth term as Orleans leveled things up at 58. The teams traded baskets before Matt Lojeski tied the score at 70 with six seconds to go. Reynolds then committed a turnover and Matt Lojeski punished the hosts hitting a game-winner. Caleb Green fired 18 points to lead the effort. Matthew Matt Lojeski added 14 points in the victory. Ludovic Vaty answered with 16 points for Orleans. Aldo Curti and Troy Bell netted 10 points each in the loss.
