Regular Season Round 6: TU/Rock - Benfica 80-64

Benfica advanced into the next round of EuroChallenge. They did so despite the loss in Tartu. Benfica capitalized on the loss of Lugano Tigers to claim the second spot in Group C. TU/Rock remained at the bottom of the standings despite the win. It was going the Portuguese way at the start of the encounter. Benfica went on a 16:4 run to take an 18:8 lead midway through the starting frame. Mascaremhas hit a three-pointer to ensure a 21:10 advantage for the visitors. The Portuguese champions were up by 14 points at the first break 31:17. However TU/Rock adjusted their defense and began clawing their way back into the contest in the second period. The Tartu team limited their opponents to 9 points in the second frame to get within 6 points at halftime 34:40. TU/Rock turned the tables in the third term. Callistus Eziukwu triggered a 7:0 rally that cut the distance to a single point 43:44. Janar Talts, Georgi Tsintsadze and Paade gave TU/Rock a 57:51 lead at the final break. Benfica narrowed the deficit at just two points early in the fourth term but TU/Rock just mounted the pressure as Doronin and Leppik secured an 11-point lead for TU/Rock with under three minutes remaining. Benfica never recovered suffering the defeat. Six TU/Rock players scored in double figures. Callistus Eziukwu had 13 points and 10 rebounds for TU/Rock. Georgi Tsintsadze provided 12 points in the win. Heshimu Evans answered with 15 points for Benfica. Sergio Ramos finished with 11 points in the loss.
