Spartak Saint Petersburg sealed the EuroChallenge birth. They upset Karsiyaka in Turkey tonight to sweep the quarterfinal series. Henry Domercant scored 23 points to lead the Russian team. The lead changed hands several times throughout the opening term. Spartak led by 6 points late in the quarter before Aldemir and Eldridge narrowed the gap to just two points 19:21. Pero Antic and Henry Domercant enlarged the gap to 7 points early in the second term. The visitors opened a double-digit lead midway through the second frame. But Karsiyaka exploded with an 18:8 rally to level things up at 43 heading into the locker rooms. David Holston pulled Karsiyaka in front early in the third term but Henry Domercant quickly regained the lead for Spartak. The Russian side established a 65:57 lead with one quarter remaining. Pero Antic and Patrick Beverley gave the visitors a 71:59 lead after three minutes of action in the final period. Soon the gap grew at 17 points and Spartak never looked back en route to the victory. Pero Antic provided 16 points and 9 boards, while Patrick Beverley added 15 points, 8 boards and 7 assists for the winners. Karsiyaka answered with 26 points from Andre Smith. Jovo Stanojevic and David Holston had 11 points apiece in the loss.
