EWE Baskets victoriously opened their EuroChallenge Last 16 campaign. They held off visiting Ventspils in Oldenburg. Ronald Burrell posted 20 points and 13 rebounds to pace the winners. EWE Baskets opened the game with seven straight points. The hosts arrived at the first break up by five points 16:11. The German team stretched the margin to 10 points midway through the second term. The Latvian team did not surrender and trimmed the gap at three points 27:30. Ronald Burrell made it 45:32 midway through the third quarter. EWE Baskets cruised to a 61:42 advantage at the final intermission. Ventspils could not get within striking distance in the fourth stanza as EWE Baskets rolled to the win at the end. Rickey Paulding and Kenny Hasbrouck notched 15 points apiece in the victory. Martins Meiers answered with 23 points for Ventspils. Jahmar Young accounted for 16 points in the loss.
