BK Ventspils edged EWE Baskets in the top game of Round 4 of EuroChallenge to tie both records at 2-2 in Group I. The Baltic State won 74:61 in Latvia. The German team took early 6-1 run and led 11:8 midawy through the opening period. The hosts from Latvia pushed the tempo later in the frame and Abernethy scored for 19:13 at the end of the first 10 minutes. Meiers scored for 27:19 and Gray brought 31:22. Chubb meanwhile sent the teams to the lockers at 33:28. The third quarter was decisive in the game as Ventspils produced a 25-15 surge to take 58:43 after thirty minutes. Gray later closed a 7-0 run for 67:52 and Abernethy brought 72:59. The latter also made the last two free throws in the game for the final success. Jahmar Young top-scored for the winners with 18 points and Gray netted 14. Meiers and Zakis followed them with 11 points each in a win. Robert Brown finished the night with 21 points for the visiting side and Chubb collected 18 points and 11 caroms.
