Ventspils surged ahead in the EuroChallenge quarterfinal series versus Szolnok. The Latvian side claimed the victory at home court in the opener. Arturs Berzins scored 16 points to lead the hosts. The teams were tied at 13 after ten minutes of action. Ventspils put their noses in front in the second quarter. They unloaded 27 points in the period to ensure a 40:31 halftime lead. Jahmar Young and Abernethy gave the home team a 56:41 advantage midway through the third term. The gap grew at 16-point mark in the fourth period. Ventspils stayed comfortably in charge till the final buzzer claiming a well-deserved win at the end. Jahmar Young and Steven Gray knocked down 14 points each for the winners. Obie Trotter and Julien Mills answered with 13 points apiece for Szolnok.
