Besiktas recorded the first win in the EuroChallenge quarterfinal series versus Artland Dragons. The Turkish team snatched a road win in the opener. Zoran Erceg unleashed 24 points and collected 8 rebounds to lead the charge. Besiktas will try to wrap up the series at home on Thursday. Besiktas opened the game on an 8:2 run. They stayed in front throughout the first quarter building a 23:15 lead. The Dragons needed a 9:0 run midway through the second frame to surge ahead 30:29. The German team ensured a narrow 37:35 halftime advantage. The teams traded lead throughout the third period. Artland Dragons managed to secure a 54:52 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. However eight consecutive points from Zoran Erceg gave the visitors a 65:61 lead with under six minutes to go. Anthony Hilliard tied things up at 71 with 50 seconds remaining but Carlos Arroyo knocked down three points in the dying seconds to seal the win for Besiktas. Pops Mensah-Bonsu had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Carlos Arroyo provided 15 points for the winners. Anthony Hilliard and Brandon Thomas answered with 13 points each for Artland Dragons. Peavy netted 12 points in the loss.
