Regular Season Round 6: Groningen - Mons-Hainaut 77-75

There was a minor upset when second-best Belgian Belfius Mons-Hainaut (3-3) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Dutch Groningen (2-4) 77-75 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Belfius Mons-Hainaut won third quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Groningen made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 Belfius Mons-Hainaut turnovers. Croatian-Slovenian forward Drazen Bubnic (207-86, agency: XL Basketball Agency) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian power forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Amaury Gorgemans (212-92) with 9 points and 9 rebounds and Jamaican-Canadian forward Jermaine Bucknor (201-83, college: Richmond) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Groningen moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Rilski. Loser Belfius Mons-Hainaut keeps the second position with three games lost.
