Regular Season Round 6: Kapfenberg - AV Cantu 95-91

There was a minor upset when second-best Italian AV Cantu (3-3) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Austrian Kapfenberg Bulls (2-4) 95-91 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-91. Kapfenberg Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to AV Cantu's 30 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded AV Cantu 34-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. American-Austrian forward Joe Dean Shaw (199-87, college: Nevada) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) chipped in 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 assists and Canadian Brady Heslip (191-90, college: Baylor) scored 28 points. Five Kapfenberg Bulls and four AV Cantu players scored in double figures. AV Cantu's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kapfenberg Bulls moved-up to third place in Group E, which they share with Rilski. Loser AV Cantu keeps the second position with three games lost.
