Second Stage Round 3: Cibona - Le Havre 106-113

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Zagreb where Croatian Cibona (2-1) was defeated by French STB Le Havre (2-1) 113-106 on Wednesday. STB Le Havre dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Cibona's 38 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. STB Le Havre forced 19 Cibona turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. STB Le Havre looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Cibona was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Puerto Rican swingman Angel Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Adolphe Michel Jean-Baptiste (204-79) helped adding 19 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Filip Kruslin (198-89, agency: Beo Basket) with 18 points and Slovenian Nebojsa Joksimovic (193-81, agency: PEPI SPORT) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. STB Le Havre will face P.Zvaigzdes (#3) in Pasvalys in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cibona will play on the road against CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu and hope to win that game.
