Second Stage Round 6: AV Cantu - Chalon 103-90

There was a minor upset when top-ranked French Chalon/Saor (5-1) was defeated on the road by third ranked Italian AV Cantu (3-3) 103-90 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by AV Cantu. Chalon/Saor was better in fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AV Cantu dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Chalon/Saor's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Ukrainian center Kyrylo Fesenko (216-86) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Axel Bouteille (201-95, agency: Comsport) with 22 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard John Roberson (180-88, college: Texas Tech) scored 13 points and 7 assists. Five AV Cantu and four Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. Despite that victory AV Cantu went down to fifteenth position (Group R) due to points difference, which they share with AEK and Tsmoki-Minsk. Loser Chalon/Saor dropped to the thirteenth place with one game lost.
