Regular Season Round 2: Antwerp - Sopron KC 88-67

Date: October 25, 2016
Rather expected game when Hungarian Sopron KC (0-2) was rolled over on the road by Belgian Antwerp Giants (2-0) 88-67 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-67. Antwerp Giants dominated on the defensive end, holding Sopron KC to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Sopron KC 43-28 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Demitrius Conger (196-90, college: St.Bonaventure) who scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import forward Ryan Anderson (206-92, college: Arizona) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Antwerp Giants players scored in double figures. Serbian-Hungarian center Marko Spica (205-86, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) produced 13 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Jay Threatt (180-89, college: Delaware St.) added 7 points and 8 assists respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Antwerp Giants will face JSF Nanterre at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sopron KC will play against FC Porto Ferpinta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
