Regular Season Round 5: AEK - Peja 81-64

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Larnaca where 3rd placed Kosovan Peja (1-4) was defeated by fourth ranked Cypriot AEK (1-4) 81-64 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-64. AEK forced 27 Peja turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Shaquille Goodwin (206-94, college: Memphis) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Torey Thomas (178-85, college: Holy Cross) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. American swingman Lamarcus Reed (196-88, college: Texas Arlington) produced 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Slovenia center Salih Nuhanovic (210-82, agency: 011 Sports) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Peja players scored in double figures. Peja's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending Cypriot champion left bottom position moving up to third place in Group G, which they share with defeated Peja. It was Peja's third loss in a row. AEK will face league's second-placed UBT Cluj Napoca at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Peja will play against the league's leader Gaziantep and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
