Telekom Baskets used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Nicosia 96-58 on Wednesday night. The game without a history. Telekom Baskets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Apoel's 40. They outrebounded Apoel 42-27 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Florian Koch (197-92) stepped up and scored 14 points for the winners and American-German guard T.J. DiLeo (190-90, college: Temple) chipped in 14 points. Telekom Baskets' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Canadian Murphy Burnatowski (200-90, college: Colgate) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Tre Bussey (190-91, college: Georgia South) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Telekom Baskets will face Redwell Gunners Oberwart (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Apoel will play against Vytautas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
