Second Stage Round 2: Benfica - Groningen 82-94

We should not miss the game where Dutch Groningen (1-1) against Portuguese Benfica (0-2) where Groningen won on the road by twelve points 94-82. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Benfica was better in fourth quarter 31-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Benfica 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Groningen players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. Croatian power forward Drago Pasalic (208-84, agency: Court Side) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Chase Fieler (203-92, college: FGCU) supported him with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Even 12 points and 4 assists by point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) did not help to save the game for Benfica. American power forward Raven Barber (206, college: Mt.St.Mary's) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Five Groningen and four Benfica players scored in double figures. Benfica's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Groningen's next round opponent will be Lukoil Acad. in Sofia and it will be for sure the game of the week. Benfica will play on the road against Enisey in Krasnoyarsk and hope to win that game.
