FIBA Europe Cup
Second Stage Round 4: Enisey - Groningen 67-81
Date: January 11, 2017
There was a minor upset in Krasnoyarsk where top-ranked Russian Enisey (3-1) was defeated by third ranked Dutch Groningen (2-2) 81-67 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Enisey was better in third quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Lance Jeter (191-88, college: Nebraska) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Chase Fieler (203-92, college: FGCU) who added 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Tony Taylor (185-90, college: G.Washington) responded with 16 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Vladislav Trushkin (201-93, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Enisey's coach tested eleven players saving starting five for next games. Defending Dutch champion maintains third position in Group P with 2-2 record having just six point less than leader Chalon. Loser Enisey still keeps top place with one game lost. Groningen will face Benfica (#4) at home in the next round. Enisey will play against the league's second-placed Lukoil Acad. in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
