Second Stage Round 5: Vytautas - Apoel 68-57

Rather predictable result in Prienai where second ranked Lithuanian Vytautas (4-1) beat 4th placed Cypriot Apoel (1-4) 68-57 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 40-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Vytautas dominated on the defensive end, holding Apoel to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Apoel 41-30 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vytautas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Vytenis Lipkevicius (196-89) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American forward Brandon Mobley (206-91, college: Seton Hall, agency: HMS) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Tre Bussey (190-91, college: Georgia South) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Vytautas keep a position of Group M leader, which they share with Telekom Bsk. Loser Apoel dropped to the third place with four games lost. Vytautas will face league's leader Telekom Baskets in Bonn in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apoel will play at home against Redwell Gunners Oberwart and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
