Regular Season Round 2: Kataja Basket - FC Porto 88-84

An interesting game for Finnish Joensuun Kataja (2-0) which hosted in Joensuu Portuguese FC Porto Ferpinta (0-2). Joensuun Kataja managed to get a 4-point victory 88-84. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But FC Porto Ferpinta won third quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FC Porto Ferpinta was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Inception Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. The other American import swingman Wesley Saunders (196-93, college: Harvard) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Sasa Borovnjak (206-89, college: Penn St., agency: 011 Sports) replied with 23 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Marcus Gilbert (198-93, college: Fairfield) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for FC Porto Ferpinta. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Joensuun Kataja will face Mornar Bar at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. FC Porto Ferpinta will play against Kapfenberg Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
