Regular Season Round 4: Le Portel - Groningen 60-49

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both first ranked French Le Portel and their biggest opponent Dutch Groningen had identical 2-1 record. This time Le Portel used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Groningen 60-49 on Tuesday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group A. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 60-49. Le Portel dominated on the defensive end, holding Groningen to just 6 points in second quarter. American guard Trae Golden (189-91, college: Georgia Tech) fired 8 points and 8 assists for the winners. The other American import power forward Franklin Hassell (205-88, college: ODU) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Le Portel's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Le Portel maintains first position in Group A with 3-1 record. Defending Dutch champion Groningen dropped to the third place with two games lost. Le Portel will face league's second-placed Antwerp Giants on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Groningen will play against Bosna-Royal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
