Not a big story in a game when 4th placed FYR Macedonian Karpos Sokoli (0-5) was outscored on the road by second ranked Russian BC Nizhny Novgorod (4-1) 95-70 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-70. BC Nizhny Novgorod dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Karpos Sokoli's 30 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Karpos Sokoli 39-21 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. BC Nizhny Novgorod looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. Four BC Nizhny Novgorod players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Serbian power forward Dragan Labovic (207-87, agency: Alti Sport) answered with 23 points and Serbian forward Zarko Comagic (199-85, college: N.Arizona) added 18 points and 5 steals in the effort for Karpos Sokoli. BC Nizhny Novgorod keeps a position of Group H leader, which they share with Szolnok. Loser Karpos Sokoli still closes the standings with five games lost. BC Nizhny Novgorod will face league's leader Szolnok at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Karpos Sokoli will play against Falco-Vulcano and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
