Second Stage Round 2: Groningen - Keravnos 109-69

Groningen used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Strovolos 109-69 on Wednesday night. The game without a history. Groningen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 70.0 percent from the field. Groningen outrebounded Keravnos 31-16 including a 23-8 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 22 long-distance shots on high 68.8 percentage. Groningen looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Keravnos' players. Center Thomas Koenis (211-89, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). American guard Brandyn Curry (187-91, college: Harvard, agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 22 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. American-Cypriot power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami, FL) replied with 15 points and American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) added 14 points in the effort for Keravnos. Keravnos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Groningen will face Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#4) in Jemappes in the next round. Keravnos will play at home against UBT Cluj Napoca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
