FIBA Europe Cup

Second Stage Round 4: Alba - Nevezis 88-80

Date: January 24, 2018
No shocking result in a game in Szekesfehervar where first ranked Hungarian Alba (3-1) defeated 4th ranked Lithuanian Nevezis (1-3) 88-80 on Wednesday. Nevezis trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 25-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-88 at the end of the game. Alba forced 21 Nevezis turnovers. Strangely Nevezis outrebounded Alba 39-23 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Peter Lorant (206-85, agency: Octagon Europe) fired 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Kasey Hill (185-93, college: Florida) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. Alba's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Russian forward Valery Likhodey (205-86, agency: Alti Sport) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Tadas Sedekerskis (203-98) added 12 points and 13 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alba have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Hungarian champion maintains first position in Group J with 3-1 record. Nevezis lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with three games lost. Alba will face league's second-placed Demir IBB in Buyukcekmece in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nevezis will play at home against Kormend and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
