Regular Season Round 4: Istanbul BBSK - Groningen 47-85

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th ranked Turkish Istanbul BBSK's (0-4) home loss to third ranked Dutch Groningen (3-1) 47-85 on Wednesday. Groningen forced 19 Istanbul BBSK turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for center Thomas Koenis (211-89, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Dutch swingman Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Groningen's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Semih Erden (211-86) replied with 13 points and 4 assists and Bulgarian forward Yordan Minchev (202-98) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Istanbul BBSK. Defending Dutch champion keeps a position of Group C leader, which they share with Pinar Karsiyaka. Loser Istanbul BBSK still closes the standings with four games lost. Groningen will face league's second-placed Pinar Karsiyaka at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Istanbul BBSK will play against Spirou Charleroi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
