Regular Season Round 5: Groningen - Pinar Karsiyaka 89-83

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both first ranked Dutch Groningen and second-ranked Turkish Pinar Karsiyaka had identical 3-1 record. This time Groningen used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Karsiyaka 89-83 on Wednesday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group C. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 27-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Groningen looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Pinar Karsiyaka's players. Four Pinar Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending Dutch champion maintains first place in Group C with 4-1 record. Loser Pinar Karsiyaka keeps the second position with two games lost. Groningen will face Spirou Charleroi (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pinar Karsiyaka will play against Istanbul BBSK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
