FIBA Europe Cup
Regular Season Round 5: Rilski - Alba 83-104
Date: November 14, 2018
Rather expected game in Samokov where 4th placed Bulgarian Rilski (0-5) was crushed by leader Hungarian Alba (5-0) 104-83 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 104-83. Alba looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Allerik Freeman (190-94, college: NC State) stepped up and scored 27 points and 8 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and power forward Peter Lorant (206-85, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import Jalen Jenkins (201-94, college: George Mason) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Alba and four Rilski players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Alba have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group F with 5-0 record. Loser Rilski still closes the standings with five games lost. Alba will face league's second-placed Openjobmetis VA in Varese in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rilski will play on the road against FC Porto and hopes to get finally their first victory.
