Regular Season Round 3: Bayreuth - Apoel 112-68

Date: November 6, 2019
There was no surprise when Cypriot Apoel (0-3) was outleveled on the road by German BBC Bayreuth (2-1) 112-68 on Wednesday. The game without a history. BBC Bayreuth led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 65.2 percent from the field. BBC Bayreuth outrebounded Apoel 39-17 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. BBC Bayreuth looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Apoel's players. It was a good game for American forward Reid Travis (203-95, college: Kentucky) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Bryce Alford (190-94, college: UCLA) contributed with 21 points and 8 assists for the winners. American center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: MTSU) answered with 16 points and 6 assists and Greek-Cypriot guard Ioannis Giannaras (187-99, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Apoel. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. BBC Bayreuth will face Ventspils at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apoel will play against Prishtina and hopes to get finally their first victory.
