Regular Season Round 1: Kataja Basket - Nanterre 70-77

Joensuun Kataja was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Nanterre 77-70 on Tuesday night. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Joensuun Kataja won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Center Mouhammadou Jaiteh (205-94) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Ken Horton (199-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Robert Arnold (198-88, college: Boise St.) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five JSF Nanterre and four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. JSF Nanterre will face Benfica at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Joensuun Kataja will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut in Quaregnon.
