Regular Season Round 4: Kormend - Lukoil Acad. 63-76

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Hungarian Kormend (2-2) against fourth ranked Bulgarian Lukoil Acad. (1-3) on Tuesday night. Host Kormend was defeated by Lukoil Acad. in Kormend 76-63. The game was mostly controlled by Lukoil Acad.. Kormend was better in third quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kormend 35-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who scored that evening 20 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by British power forward Ryan Richards (212-91, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Kormend. Serbian-Hungarian guard Marko Popadic (189-89) added 16 points and 4 steals for lost side. Lukoil Acad. maintains fourth position in Group B with 1-3 record. Kormend at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. Lukoil Acad.'s next round opponent will be league's leader TU/Rock in Tartu and it may be the game of the week. Kormend will play on the road against CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
