Regular Season Round 5: Siauliai - Tsmoki-Minsk 83-80

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Belarusian Tsmoki-Minsk's (1-4) road loss to third ranked Lithuanian Siauliai (3-2) 80-83 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-80. Tsmoki-Minsk was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. Swiss-Lithuanian guard Rolandas Alijevas (192-85, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Siauliai's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Montenegrin Ivan Maras (207-86, agency: 011 Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and Serbian-Bulgarian guard Branko Mirkovic (190-82, agency: 011 Sports) added 20 points and 7 assists in the effort for Tsmoki-Minsk. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Siauliai moved-up to second place in Group H. Defending Belarusian champion Tsmoki-Minsk stay at the bottom position with four games lost. Siauliai will face Usak (#3) at home in the next round in the crucial game for both teams. Tsmoki-Minsk will play against the league's leader Enisey Krasnoyarsk and hope to win that game.
