Second Stage Round 4: Astana - Enel Brindisi 83-75

Both fourth ranked Kazakhstan Astana and one of their biggest challengers Italian Enel Brindisi had identical 1-2 record. This time Astana used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Brindisi 83-75 on Tuesday night. It was a key game for the second position in Group I. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Astana had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Enel Brindisi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Azerbaijani forward Niklas Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Beo Basket) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jerry Johnson (182-82, college: Rider, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 21 points and 9 assists. American-Georgian point guard Jacob Pullen (185-89, college: Kansas St.) produced 21 points and 6 assists (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!) and Nigerian power forward Micheal Eric (210-88, college: Temple) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Kazakhstan champion (2-2) moved-up to second place in Group I, which they share with Aalstar. Enel Brindisi lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with three games lost. Astana will face group's leader CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Enel Brindisi will play against Okapi Aalstar.
