FIBA Europe Cup round 2 best performance: Rihards Aleksandrovs

Power forward Rihards Aleksandrovs (201-PF-2002) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked VEF Riga, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 24-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, six rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to crush, the league's bottom-ranked team Neftci (#6, 0-2) with 16-point margin 110-94. It allowed VEF Riga to take over top position in the FIBA Europe Cup. But it's just the very beginning of the season and VEF Riga won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Aleksandrovs had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at VEF Riga, through which he has constantly improved.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Christyon Eugene (190-G-2001, agency: 011 Sports) of BC Prievidza. Eugene had a very good evening with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course he led Prievidza to another comfortable win outscoring Lions (0-2) 108-84. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Eugene is a newcomer at Prievidza, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Damian Forrest (206-F-2001, agency: Players Group) of BC Bigbank/Kalev Tallinn (#4). Forrest scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). Despite Forrest's great performance the Bigbank/Kalev lost 74-82 to #2 ranked Valmiera Glass. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Bigbank/Kalev needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Forrest has a great season in FIBA Europe Cup. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.0rpg (2nd best).
