Russia were crowned the OSTCHEM U20 European champions on Sunday after emerging victorious in a close-fought final against hosts Hungary. France won bronze behind a strong display from Isabelle Isabelle Yacoubou (195-C-86).

   Russia takes Div A title for the third time - July 16, 2006
The European championships have ended with Russia winning the event for the 3^rd time. The Russian only dropped one game during the championships – a pool match against Spain – and having already beaten Hungary during the quarterfinal pool game started as favourites.
The Hungarians have proved difficult to beat in this championship and the Russians had to wait until the third quarter before they could make their mark on this game to open up consequent lead that they were able to defend until the end of the match.
France beat Spain for third place in another exciting match. France controlled the first half and appeared to be cruising towards victory. Spain step up their game in the third period and slowly fought their way back and briefly took the lead during the final period. France then managed to regain their composure and take final control of the game to pick up the bronze medal
Belgium started the last period 12 points down and yet ran out winner as the Germans ran out of steam in the last 90 seconds during their 5^th and 6^th place match. For Belgium who just survived relegation last season, this years final high placing is one of the surprises of the tournament. The sixth place of Germany is their best placing ever.
At the bottom end of the table the relegation of Poland is a shock, Poland finished 2^nd last year

In the Day 3 of European Championship U20 women, all the teams try to exert their whole energy to get the final opportunity for the Quarter- Final Round. The four teams have already get the access to the next stage game, but the rest of the teams will capture the last four tickets. Germany clinched their place in the next group phase with a 62-53-triumph over Italy. In Group C, Spain beat Russia 66-63 to win the race for top spot. Defending champions France also joined Hungary in progressing out of Group B after recording a 64-43 win over Israel earlier in the day. Greece still finished in second spot in Group A with the Czech Republic downing Finland 79-64 to take third place.

The most attractive game of all the Day 2 game was Hungary and France. Hosts Hungary stunned defending champions France with a come-from-behind victory by 73-70 at the OSTCHEM U20 European Championship Women in Sopron on Saturday evening. The result of this game will perhaps effect who as the first and second place of Group B. Hungary keep continuing balanced fight and 2:06 remaining best behaviour, have thus clinched a place in the next group stage while France must beat Israel on Sunday to be assured of advancing.
After Day 2 game, Bulgaria, Russia and Belgium were also the winners.

   European Championship Women U20 Day One - Jul 8, 2006

On the first day of European Championship Women U20 in Hungary, the host nation got off a strong start in the game. Thanks to a balanced scoring attack, Hungary edged Israel 68-62 in a hard-fought contest.
The reigning champion France went on a 13-3 run over the next three minutes to open up a 75-67 lead. Les Bleus then outscored the Ukraine 9-1 to start the fourth quarter to open up a double-digit lead and take complete control of the game.
"Despite the score, we played very good defense," said French coach Francis Denis.
"It was very important for us to play more up-tempo in the second half.
" Assilamehou, who was used sparingly with France's U20 team last year, scored 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field.
"It was very important we got off to a good start in this tournament," she said.
