France grab title in overtime win over Spain - Jul 13, 2014
Spain will not repeat its golden slam of last year as already the first agegroup saw Spain fall in overtime to France that added an u20 title to the U18 Jerome Fournier and his girls grabbed two years ago. Lidija Turcinovic (184-SG-94) scored two free throws with four seconds left in overtime to give the French squad a decisive 42-47 lead. The final score after 45 intense minutes proved the final had some signs of a chess-match as both teams are very very familiair with eachother, after already competing in preparation (win for Spain), and in the first round (narrow win for Spain) before.
Spain took matters in its own hands leading 9-6 in the first quarter, only to build on that lead in the second stanza, that saw the defending champs reach the break with a 20-14 advantage. Both key players , as mentioned on www.fibaeurope.com Astou N'dour and Aby Gaye where neutralizing eachother quite intensely so other players had to step up. For Spain it was the exciting playmaker Leticia Romero who had 9 points 11 rebounds and 6 assists , while Maria Lizarazu lead Spain with 15 points. For France in tight games there always is MVP Olivia Epoupa , while Marieme Badiane had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Clarince Djaldi-Tabdi exploded for 15 rebounds and Lidija Turcinovic proved to be the Pippen to Jordanesque Epoupa , icing the freethrows at the end of overtime, to cap a 6 points 8 rebounds performance.
Spain managed only 2 points in the third quarter , seeing momentum shift dramatically in the game while France went ahead 5 points. In the final stanza it was a big Romero three that leveled the game at 34-34 for overtime.

Bosnia and Herzegovina - Lithuania 48:56 Lithuania ensured the winning start to their European Championship in Division B campaign. They held off Bosnian counterparts in the opener.
