Serbia fired past Lithuania to advance into the quarterfinals. Serbia dominated from start to finish. They built a 46-24 halftime lead. They held Lithuania to just 22 points in the second half and raced to the win. Jovana Spasovski (183-SF-2004) notched 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Andjela Marojevic (175-G/F-2004) added 16 points for Serbia. Audrone Zdaneviciute (166-PG-2003) answered with 10 points for Lithuania.
Poland - Turkey 63-70
Turkey prevailed against Poland in the Round of 16 clash. Poland enjoyed a 39-37 halftime lead. But Turkey limited their opponents to just 24 points in the second half and raced to the win. Selin Gul (184-PF-2003) came up with 17 points, while Elif Istanbulluoglu (188-F-2005) added 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Wanesa Furman (172-G-2004) replied with 22 points for Poland.
Hungary - Portugal 68-70
Portugal nipped Hungary to stay in the title race. Hungary used a 21-12 run in the second stanza to ensure a 42-36 halftime advantage. But Portugal answered with a 34-26 second half rally to snatch the win. Ines Bettencourt (175-G-2004) and Rita Rodriguez had 11 points each in the victory. Melinda Miklos (184-G/F-2003) replied with 19 points for Hungary.
Latvia - Sweden 81-72
Latvia held off Sweden to advance into the next round of action. Latvia piled up a 43-36 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 12-point mark heading into the fourth stanza and never looked back en route to the win. Luize Sila (188-PF-2004) netted 23 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for Latvia. Tilda Sjokvist (165-G-2003) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds for Sweden.
Israel - Finland 63-53
Israel used a strong third quarter rally to tame Finland in Round of 16 clash. Hila Karsh (173-PG-2004) tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the winners. Finland led by as many as 12 points after ten minutes. But Israel went on a 26-10 run in the third term to spur ahead for good. Tamar Singer (166-G-2004) had 16 points in the victory. Meri Kanerva (177-G-2004) posted 14 points for Finland.
Spain - Belgium 77-62
Carla Brito (180-G-2004) and Marta Morales (185-F-2003) scored 13 point each as Spain overcame Belgium in Round of 16 clash. Spain eked out a narrow 39-37 halftime advantage. Spain followed with a massive 23-8 run in the third stanza to clear off for good. Julia Franquin (186-PF-2003, agency: LBM Management) posted 21 points and 9 rebounds for Belgium.
France - Czech Republic 100-69
France cruised past Czech Republic to secure the quarterfinal berth. France unloaded 58 points in the first half to open a comfortable 29-point advantage. France sank 42 points in the second half to march to the win. Carla Leite (175-PG-2004) stepped up with 23 points, while Sara Roumy (180-SG-2003) added 18 points for France. Valentyna Kadlecova (182-F-2004) tossed in 23 points for Czech Republic.
Italy - Montenegro 79-64
Italy outscored Montenegro en route to the quarterfinals in Lithuania. The Azzurri registered a 36-29 halftime advantage. They sank 29 points in the third quarter to secure a 27-point lead and marched to the victory in the final term. Sara Ronchi (183-F-2003) netted 21 points, while Eleonora Villa (172-G-2004, agency: Players Group) had 20 points for Italy. Marija Lekovic (170-PG-2003) produced 17 points for Montenegro.
