MIA Academy won the Sakandzelidze-Korkia Memorial - Jan 31, 2015

For the first time in their history, MIA Academy won the Memorial Tournament named after Olympic champions - Zurab Sakandzelidze and Mikheil Korkia. The final of the tournament was played in the hometown of these legendary players, Kutaisi and the fans watched very interesting and beautiful game between MIA and Rustavi. MIA has lost twice in the final of the tournament before this. In 2010 Energy Invest defeated MIA in the final, in 2012 MIA lost against Armia. But this time MIA used the chance and defeated Rustavi 84:79 in the final game. The whole game was tense. Although Academy started leading from the very first minutes, Rustavi didn't give them a time or chance to relax. The decisive episode was in the last quarter, when Beqa Chikviladze (195-G-91) stole the ball from the rivals three times in a row and gave his team 74:64 leading. Rustavi managed to close the gap down to 2 points, but it was their maximum. Beqa Chikviladze led MIA with a team-high 20 points and was awarded as the best forward of the tournament. Rustavi's American legionary Terrence Oglesby (188-G-88, college: Clemson) scored a game-high 32 points with 7 assists and won the Best Guard's award. Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-PG-86) dished out 9 assists with 18 points, Sharabidze delivered a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
