Kutaisi have been crowned Superleague champions. They overcame Dinamo Tbilisi in the decisive fifth game of the title series. Dinamo Tbilisi was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 16-10 charge of Kutaisi, which allowed them to win the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Dinamo Tbilisi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international Beka Bekauri (207-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Azerbaijani guard Zaur Pashaev (188-83) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian swingman Maksim Kovacevic (196-87, agency: SPORTlab Agency) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and American guard Aubrey McAlpine (196, college: Robert Morris) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Four Dinamo Tbilisi players scored in double figures. Dinamo Wins the Cup of Georgia - Apr 24, 2016
The Georgian Cup winner is Dinamo. Irakli Khoshtaria's boys have defeated Sokhumi easily - 85:59. In spite of that it was Final game of the tournament and chances were expected to be equal, Dinamo was way ahead of the opponent in every component of the game. The game was finished as it started: Dinamo dominated from the very beginning of the game and it lasted till the end. The defensive play style was Dinamo's key to the success and victory. The tactical play kept them dry almost for the whole 1st period. Sokhumi only scored 6 points and on the other hand Dinamo scored 23 points. The game almost remained the same, Dinamo was 24 points (!) ahead and every player was trying hard to perform at their best. This left no chance for Sokhumi and they even could not catch up with Dinamo. The best player from dynamo was Maksim Kovacevic (196-G/F-87, agency: SPORTlab Agency) with 17 points. Giorgi Sharabidze (210-C-90, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored the only Double double of the game 12 points and 10 rebounds. Juevol Myles (185-G-89, college: S.Dakota) and Nodar Gogodze (191-PG-94) scored 10 points each. The best player from Sokhumi's side was Miller with 22 points. Along with the Trophy Dinamo got 50 000 Laris on their account as a prize, which was funded by first time in the tournament's history by the Georgian Basketball Federation. The Trophy cup was given out by Georgian Veteran player Nodar Korkia. Radio 'Jako' had the special prize for the bombardier of the game Kote Makharadze Cup (who was well known Georgian event host and TV star. The Prize was given to Maxim Maksim Kovacevic by Jamlet Khukhashvili, famous TV and Radio announcer and host. The MVP title was given out to Giorgi Giorgi Sharabidze who got his prize from veteran player and the former Dinamko player and Coach Levan Moseshvili . Region Team wins All Star game in Tbilisi as they overcame the local representatives 148:122. Region grabbed a 43-30 lead at the end of the first period and added massive 47-36 at the halftime for a 24 points advantage. Tbilisi managed to post a 32-20 surge in the third period, but fell short at the last stanza. Giorgi Barbakadze (203-F-91) stepped up with 31 points for the winners and was named MVP of the game. Akaki Dvalishvili (206-PF-91) collected 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winning team. Nodar Gogodze (191-PG-94) replied with 23 points in the losing effort and Kakhaber Tomaradze (193-SG-95) posted 20.
