    Univ.Surgut are crowned Superleague champions. They fired past Irkut on the road to complete the sweep of the championship series. Universitet-Yugra outrebounded Irkut Irkutsk 38-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Alexander Savenkov (205-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Andrei Ivanov (197-84, agency: Alti Sport) helped adding 19 points. The best for the losing side was Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) with 14 points and point guard Gleb Gerasimenko (182-88) scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

    Novosibirsk defend National Cup title - Feb 19, 2017


    Novosibirsk claimed National Cup title in Russia. They celebrated a narrow 69-67 win against Sakhalin to defend their title back in 2015.
    Both teams started strong and only at the end of the first period Sakhalin took an 18-17 lead. Novosibirsk scored another 17 points in the second frame as well and it was enough to take a 2-point half-time advantage. The teams exchanged the narrow wins in the second half, while Sergey Tokarev (189-G-85) nailed three for the final result at the end of the game.
    Aleksandr Lavnikov (205-F/C-91, agency: Alti Sport) stepped up with 16 points, while Sergey Tokarev netted 14. Dramir Zibirov (187-G-86) ended up with 20 points in the losing effort.
