Blackbirds - Panthers 79-78

Blackbirds celebrated 2 Bundesliga title. They nipped Panthers in the exciting third game of the championship series to conquer the trophy, The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 1 point. Blackbirds forced 22 Furstenfeld Panthers turnovers. Strangely Furstenfeld Panthers outrebounded Blackbirds 35-23 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. 30 personal fouls committed by Furstenfeld Panthers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for forward Jakob Ernst (189-98) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). The former international forward Sebastian Koch (201-88) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was British forward David Akibo (201-94, college: Minot St.) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and the former international swingman Christoph Nagler (196-84) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Furstenfeld Panthers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
