Oradea became LNBM champions. They overcame Targu Mures in the decisive fifth game of the championship series to conquer the first ever trophy. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-15. But Targu Mures won second period 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oradea dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Targu Mures' 20. 24 personal fouls committed by Targu Mures helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Sean Barnette (197-86, college: Wingate) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Oradea players scored in double figures. Ghanian guard Alhaji Mohammed (192-81, college: Louisville, agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 23 points and 5 assists and Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (187-87) added 22 points in the effort for Targu Mures.
