Zalgiris clinched the third consecutive LKL title. They knocked down Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius tonight to sweep the championship series. Oliver Lafayette (188-G-84, college: Houston) stepped up with 18 points and 7 assists to lead the Kaunas team to the victory. Zalgiris eked out a narrow 21:19 lead after ten minutes. Lietuvos Rytas stiffened defensively in the second period. The hosts held Zalgiris to 8 points in the next period and ensured a 32:29 halftime lead. But the Kaunas team solved the defensive riddles in the third term and went on a massive 26:19 run. The visitors arrived at the final break up by 4 points 55:51. Rimantas Kaukenas (192-SG-77, college: Seton Hall) triggered a 17:2 rally from Zalgiris midway through the fourth period. The visitors never looked back afterwards cruising to the victory at the end. Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-F-89) delivered 16 points, while Rimantas Kaukenas added 15 points for the winning side. Eimantas Bendzius (203-F-90) answered with 15 points for Lietuvos Rytas. Mindaugas Katelynas (206-F-83, college: Chattanooga) had 10 points in the loss.

Lithuania clinched a massive victory over Time Team in todays LKL All-Star Game. Lavrinovic brothers were named the MVPs of the game. Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-C-79) delivered 21 points to pace the winners. Darjus Lavrinovic (212-C-79) accounted for 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the victory. Lithuania opened the game on a 7:0 run. They stayed in front throughout the opening quarter posting a 25:13 advantage ten minutes into the game. The lead kept on growing throughout the second quarter. Lithuania built a 70:47 advantage at the interval. The Lithuanian selection maintained the advantage throughout the third quarter. They built a 105:80 advantage into the fourth frame. The teams traded baskets eagerly in the fourth period as Lithuania cruised to the victory at the end. Gediminas Orelikas (200-G/F-90) finished with 16 points, while Mindaugas Katelynas (206-F-83, college: Chattanooga) added 14 points for the winners. Yancy Gates (206-F-89, college: Cincinnati) paced Time Team with 22 points. Chase Simon (198-G-89, college: Detroit Mercy) had 14 points, while Janis Blums (191-SG-82) netted 13 points in the loss. Marius Runkauskas (189-G-86) clinched the Three-Point Shootout Contest crown. Sarunas Beniusis (206-F/C-93) celebrated victory in the Slam Dunk Contest.
Zalgiris clinched the first trophy of the new season. They managed to draw the return leg game against Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius to claim an aggregate victory for the SuperCup trophy. The first game ended with Zalgiris earning an 89:71 win. Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-C-79) posted 16 points to lead Zalgiris today. Lietyvos Rytas stayed ahead throughout the first half. They posted a 17:14 lead. Soon the hosts boosted the margin to 8 points 37:29. Zalgiris however cut the deficit to just a single point 42:43 at halftime. The teams stayed close throughout the third term. Zalgiris and Lietuvos Rytas entered the fourth period tied at 62. Janis Blums (191-SG-82) and Katelynas put the hosts in front early in the fourth frame. But soon Zalgiris denied the deficit. The teams went neck and neck before Janis Blums made it 87:84 for Lietuvos Rytas. However the hosts could not snatch the victory. Marko Popovic (185-G-82, agency: Alti Sport, college: S.Idaho JC) drained a big buzzer-beating three-pointer to end the game in a draw. Leon Radosevic (206-C-90) posted 20 points for Lietuvos Rytas. Renaldas Seibutis (198-SG-85) added 13 points for the winners. Marko Popovic answered with 14 points, 7 assists and 6 boards for Zalgiris.
Neptunas shoot down Rudupis to clinch LKL Bronze - May 13, 2013

Neptunas climbed onto the LKL pedestal. They defeated Rudupis in Prienai in the decisive fifth game of the consolation final series. Deividas Gailius (200-F-88) scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to pace Neptunas. Rudupis and Neptunas scored 23 points each in the opening quarter. The visitors stepped on the gas in the second quarter. Neptunas exploded with 29 points and gained a 52:42 halftime lead. Rudupis tried to put together a comeback in the third term but could not succeed. Neptunas held to a firm lead and ensured a 10-point buffer heading into the fourth stanza. The visitors held their opponents to just 11 points in the final period to seal the victory. Rashaun Broadus (180-PG-84, college: BYU) knocked down 17 points, while Marius Runkauskas (189-G-86) added 12 points for Neptunas. Gediminas Orelikas (200-G/F-90) answered with 15 points for Rudupis. Gintaras Kadziulis (192-G-80) and Arturas Valeika (207-F-85, college: Midland CC) chipped in 12 points apiece in the loss.
