Kirovograd claimed the Higher League title as they defeated Avangard in Kyiv. Quintrell Thomas (203-F-90, college: UNLV) was named the MVP after the game. The game was mostly controlled by Kirovograd. Avangard was better in fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kirovograd players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard DeAndre Mays (188-87, college: Youngstown St., agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. The former international guard Maxim Balashov (190-80, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Kirovograd players scored in double figures. The former international forward Oleg Saltovets (202-77) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and the former international center Volodymyr Gurtovyy (207-75) added 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Avangard. Avangard's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dnepr edged SoyuzBasket to clinch the Bronze medals. SoyuzBasket trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 21-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 67-74 at the end of the game. Dnepr looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Center Vladislav Korenyuk (207-94) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. International forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (202-89) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Vladyslav Tonchenko (185-89) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Akida McLain (206-86, college: Indiana, PA) added 7 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
