Ploiesti celebrated the Liga Nationala title. They overcame Targu Mures in the sixth game of the championship series to claim the trophy for the second season in a row. Alhaji Mohammed (192-G-81, agency: Court Side, college: Louisville) stepped up with impressive 38 points to pace Ploiesti. Targu Mures snatched a 20:19 lead after ten minutes of action. The teams stayed neck and neck throughtout the second period. Targu Mures ensured a 40:39 halftime lead. They remained in front after thirty minutes of action. The visitors entered the fourth frame up by two points 59:57 lead at the final intermission. However Ploiesti turned things around in the fourth stanza. They went on a 13:2 run midway through the fourth frame to take a 72:68 lead. Alhaji Mohammed gave the hosts a 79:71 lead with under two minutes remaining. Targu Mures ran out of steam in the dying minutes as Ploiesti marched to the victory. Vladimir Tica (208-C/F-81, agency: BeoExcell) posted 13 points, while Virgil Stanescu (208-C/F-77, agency: Interperformances, college: S.Alabama) added 12 points for the winners. It was a fast start for both sides that posted 35 points each in the first period. South team grabbed 5-point lead at the halftime after a 29-24 burst. Moreover they added 31-23 surge in the third quarter and led 13 points after 30 minutes of the game. The North team however needed a 32-19 burst in the last stanza for the final result. Dominique Archie top-scored for 36 points and Derek Wright (180-G-86, college: Austin Peay St.) notched 22. Branko Cuic (197-G-78) collected 15 points and 7 rebounds, while 15 Bogdan Tibirna scored 12 for North team.
