Kutaisi clinched Georgian Cup title in Tbilisi as they narrowly defeated Cactus 67-65. The latter opened the game with a 21-19 run, while Kutaisi replied with a massive 21-10 surge in the second frame. Moreover they posted a 13-11 run in the third quarter for 11-point advantage with 10 minutes to go. Cactus answered with a 23-14 rally in the last quarter, however could not get the win at the end. Dinamo Tbilisi won the SuperCup 2017 beating Kutaisi 88-70. Both teams started strong and showed their readiness for the upcoming season that will start on October 14th. Last season SuperLeague champion Dinamo posted an 18-17 lead in the first period and added massive 26-13 surge n the second frame. Moreover Dinamo Tbilisi won the third period 20-17 and closed the game with a narrow 24-23 run. Lavell Boyd (183-G-94, college: UMKC) top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Kiel Turpin (213-C-89, college: Florida St.) as well as Mikheil Berishvili (204-SF-87) delivered 20 each. Region Team defeat Tbilisi Team 169-158 in Kutaisi All Star Game 2018. They started strong and reached 24-18 lead after 5 minutes in the court. Tbilisi Team however reduced to 46-45 after the first period and then posted a 35-33 rally for an 80-79 halftime advantage. The latter controlled the majority of the third quater and took a 117-115 lead with 10 minutes to go. Region Team meanwhile dominated the last stanza and sealed the victory. Giorgi Barbakadze (203-F-91) top-scored for the winners with 34 points and Akaki Lomouri (198-F-91) netted 30. Illya Shemosiuk (188-PG-85) followed them with 27 points in a win. Bernard Nkali replied with 30 points in the losing effort and Mikhail Berishvili (204-SF-87) posted 26. Rezo Chachanidze won 3-point contest of the event. Bishop Daniels won the Dunk Competition contest.
