Szolnok beats Albacomp 80-72 in Game Five to win the Hungarian league title - May 19, 2011

Finals, Game 5: Szolnok - Albacomp 80-72 (3-2)

Szolnok is the new champion of Hungary. They managed to beat Albacomp 80-72 in decisive Game Five and to win the Finals series with 3-2. This is the first league title for Szolnok since 2007 and they also grabbed one exactly 20 years ago (1991). They already won one trophy this season and it was the Hungarian National Cup.
The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 20-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Szolnok looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Marton Bader (212-80, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Obie Trotter (186-84, college: Alabama A&M, agency: Court Side) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Szolnok players scored in double figures. International guard Adam Hanga (201-89, agency: FCM) produced 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Damian Hollis (203-88, college: George Washington) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Albacomp's coach Branislav Dzunic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
Szolnok was the regular season champion with 22-4 record. They eliminated PVSK Pannon in the Quarterfinals (3-1) and Kormend in the Semis (3-0).

Hungarian Cup: Szolnok won! - Mar 15, 2011

The team of Szolnoki Olaj KK won the Hungarian Cup last night in a very good game against Albacomp. The home team had a longer bench which allowed coach Por to give some rest of the best players of his team and that was the key of the victory again. American point guard Obie Trotter scored 17 points including 3 three pointers, hungarian guard Akos Horvath added 15 also with 3 threes, forward Ivory Clark helped his team with 16 and some very important rebounds, hungarian big man Marton Bader added 15.
Adam Hanga was shining on the court again and scored 25 points including 4 tripples, Balazs Simon added also 16 points.

All-Star Game, 19th of February 2011 - Feb 20, 2011

Yesterday in Budapest our National Team played against the best foreigners of the Hungarian First Division in the anniversary All-Star Game.

The first attraction of the afternoon was the battle between EX-NBA Star Vladimir Divac (212-C-68) and the only one Hungarian EX-NBA player Kornel David (207-F-71) team. On the roster of Divacs team played players from the Ex-Yugoslavia who spent several seasons in Hungary as Branislav Dzunic now the head coach of Albacomp and the Hungarian National Team -, Bojan Lapov (211-C-68), Boris Maljkovic, Dragan Aleksic (196-G-70, agency: Beo Basket) now the assistant coach of Szolnok -, Zoran Kmezic, Dragoljub Krivacevic and Gordan Filipovic now assistant coach of Kaposvar -. The members of the David team were the players of the Hungarian National Team attending on the European Championship in 1999: Laszlo Czigler (215-C-71, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) - NYKK - , Istvan Nemeth (190-G-79, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) - MJUS-Fortress Kormend - , Tamas Bencze - head coach of Falco KC -, Laszlo Kalman (186-G-72, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) and Tibor Pankar (195-F-76, agency: Laszlo Vinko Services) - both playing for Falco KC -, Robert Gulyas (213-C-74), Csaba Meresz, Kornel David and Ronald Halm (193-G-69) - all four retired!
