    Zalgiris clinch LKL title - May 19, 2011

    Zalgiris claimed LKL title after two-seasons pause. They overcame Lietuvos Rytas in Kaunas tonight to clinch 4-1 victory in the title series. Tadas Klimavicius (204-F-82, agency: Interperformances) tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds to pace the winners.
    The teams traded baskets at the start of the game but then Arturas Milaknis (195-G-86) and Marcus Brown gave the hosts an 18:11 lead. Zalgiris soon opened a double-digit lead before Babrauskas made it 22:29 at the end of the first quarter. Zalgiris piled up a 38:23 advantage at the start of the second term. The hosts maintained the pressure and the margin grew at 21-point mark late in the half. Capin capped the half with a three-pointer as Zalgiris earned a 54:32 lead. Lietuvos Rytas tried desperately to save the game. They went on a 10:0 run to cut the deficit to 13 points midway through the third term. Zalgiris finished the period strongly building a 72:54 advantage. Kenan Bajramovic (206-F-81) dragged Lietuvos Rytas within 15 points early in the fourth quarter but Zalgiris quickly boosted the gap to as many as 20 points and never looked back en route to the win. DeJuan Collins (188-G-76, college: Tuskegee) and Paulius Jankunas (205-F-84, agency: Interperformances) provided 12 points apiece for Zalgiris. Arturas Milaknis had 10 points in the win. Kenan Bajramovic answered with 13 points for Lietuvos Rytas. D.J. Strawberry (196-G-85, college: Maryland) delivered 12 points in defeat.

    LKL All-Stars celebrate victory in Siauliai - Mar 13, 2011

    LKL All-Stars - Time Team 122:114

    LKL All-Stars claimed victory in an exciting ball game at the Siauliai Arena tonight. They held off Time Team at the LKL All-Star Game. Jonas Valanciunas (210-C-92) was named the MVP. Lietuvos Rytas scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the winners.
    LKL All-Stars erupted for 66 points in the first half to build a 19-point lead. Time Team comprised of the best import players in the league started to claw their way back into this one after the main break. They cut the deficit but five points in the third term but came up short of victory at the end. Martynas Pocius (196-G-86, agency: Interperformances, college: Duke) produced 21 points, 6 boards and 6 assists for LKL All-Stars. Arvydas Siksnius (196-F-87, college: Weatherford JC) added 17 points, while Mantas Kalnietis (196-G-86, agency: Interperformances) had 15 points for the winners. Rashaun Broadus (182-G-84, college: BYU) answered with 25 points for Time Team. Brad Newley (201-F-85, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 15 points, while Milko Bjelica (207-C-84, agency: Beo Basket) had 14 points in the losing case.
    Edvinas Ruzgas (198-G-87, college: TCU) celebrated victory in a traditional Three-Point Shootout Contest. He overcame Eimantas Bendzius (203-F-90) in the Final. Algirdas Palaima (195-F-90) of the students league was crowned the winner of Air King Slam Dunk Contest. He prevailed against Arnas Parachomikas in the final round.

    Zalgiris returned the Cup trophy to Kaunas. They toppled Lietuvos Rytas and gained the Cup title after a two year pause. Travis Watson (203-F/C-81, college: Virginia) delivered 13 points to lead the winners.
    Lietuvos Rytas and Zalgiris opened the game in an aggressive manner. The teams exchanged baskets as the Vilnius team gained an 18:17 lead after ten minutes. Lietuvos Rytas stayed in charge in the second term. They posted a 2-point lead at halftime 34:32. Zalgiris pulled ahead in the third term. They went on a 9:0 run to take a 50:43 lead. However Kenan Bajramovic (206-F-81, agency: Beo Basket) helped Lietuvos Rytas got within just one point at the final intermission 49:50. Marcus Brown and Paulius Jankunas (205-F-84, agency: Interperformances) teamed up midway through the fourth quarter to give Zalgiris a 66:58 lead. Lietuvos Rytas could not respond this time allowing their opponents to rally to the victory. Paulius Jankunas and Tadas Klimavicius (204-F-82, agency: Interperformances) contributed 12 points each for the Kaunas team. Kenan Bajramovic replied with 21 points and 9 rebounds for Lietuvos Rytas. D.J. Strawberry (196-G-85, college: Maryland) and Milko Bjelica (207-C-84, agency: Beo Basket) finished with 11 points apiece in defeat.
