Panathinaikos is the champion (again)!! - Jun 4, 2014
Panathinaikos after an amazing first half (overscored Olympiakos with 21 points) was the final winer and the champion for another one season. Olympiakos lost another league but this time is all to be blamed as Bartzokas Reds were not able to beat Panathinaikos and end the league once and for all in SEF in the fourth and most consecutive game.! Jonas Maciulis was the top scorer in another derby against Olympiakos with his 15 points, but the MVP not only of this final series but of the league in general is Dimitris Diamantidis (196-PG-80)s, with his 11 points, 7 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds was once more the real captain the true leader and the spirit of Panathinaikos driving the Greens in probably the most difficult champion in the last decade and against all odds.
The final score was 82-71 with Panathinaikos scoring just 29 points in the last 20 minutes but simply managing to keep the deficit of the first half. For another game against his ex team, Vassilis Spanoulis was tragic ending the game with just 6 points adding to his only one point in the game no. 4. On the contrary a much better game by most of the Greens in this decisive fifth game since other than Maciulis and Diamantidis, Antonis Fotsis (209-F-81) scored double digits with Ukic scoring 9 points followed by Mavrokfalidis and Lasme with 8 points per head as James Gist scored 9 and Wright 7 points. On the other hand, Olympiakos had the duet Lojeski and Printezis with 17 and 16 points respectively followed by Dunston and Collins with 11 per head. Perperoglou scored 7 and Mantzaris 3 while Sloukas remain pointless.
Panathinaikos played as a true champion and his victory was 100% fair since Olympiakos showed once more than has a syndrome against the Greens and can't really face it..
