Copa del Rey: Real celebrate thanks to Sergio Llull's jumper - Feb 9, 2014

In spectacular Copa del Rey final, played in front of 11,000 spectators in Palacio Martin Carpena, Real Madrid defeated eternal rivals Barcelona 77-76 (16-17, 22-25, 22-17, 17-17). Malaga hosted Copa del Rey for the third time in 21st century and Barcelona and Real Madrid played in the final in again, just like in 2001 and 2007. Barcelona won previous two finals in Malaga and were close to another trophy, but Sergio Llull's (192-SG-87) basket with 0.1 decided the winner.

It was incredibly close game from the start, with none of two teams managing to open lead bigger than four points until 38th minute!
Barcelona led 17-16 after first quarter, mostly thanks to Erazem Lorbek and Ante Tomic (217-C-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency), who scored Barca's first 12 points of the game (6 points each). Nikola Mirotic (207-F/C-91) and Rudy Fernandez (198-SF-85) had 5 points each in Madrid's team.
Blaugrana extended their lead to four points at halftime (42-38). Alex Abrines had good role with 7 points in less than 5 minutes (2/2 for three points). Ante Tomic led all scorers after first half with 12, but shot 4/10 from the field. It was good result for Real considering they had no steals and 9 turnovers in comparison to Barca's 4 stals and one turnover.
Marcelinho Huertas (191-PG-83) had great third quarter, leading Barcelona with 11 points in this period. However, Rudy Fernandez scored 8 and had 17 in total after 30 minutes. It was enough to give Real Madrid 59-60 lead after three quarters.

It was 64-64 middle through final period, when Real started their 7-0 run and led 71-64 after three-pointer by Nikola Mirotic with two and a half minutes to go. Pablo Laso's team was up by 7 with minute until the end as well (68-75), but Brad Oleson (191-PG-83, agency: Duran International, college: Alaska-Fairb.) scored triple and Barca was back in the game (71-75) despite Juan Carlos Navarro was missing every shot. Real didn't score in next two possessions, Marcelinho scored after Brad Oleson's offensive rebound and American was destined to become match winner after completing 2+1 play with 8 seconds remaining. However, Madrid had answer although their possession didn't look promising. Sergio Llull shot from the corner and scored to give Real their 24th trophy in history. Barcelona have 23.

Nikola Mirotic was voted MVP of Copa del Rey, he finished the game with double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds (performance index rating of 32).
