Monthey rolled past Geneve Lions to celebrate LNA title. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Geneve Lions won third quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Jonathan Dubas (204-91) had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Markel Humphrey (198-86, college: Marshall, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Monthey players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Antonio Ballard (196-88, college: Miami, OH) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Marko Mladjan (205-93) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Geneve Lions' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Monthey clinch Coupe de la Ligue in Montreux 85-71. The team pushed the tempo in the second half to grab the first title of year 2017. Even thought Monthey posted a 21-19 rally in the start of the game, they could not control the first half. Fribourg Olympic answered with a 21-17 run in the second period for a 2-point half-time advantage. The second half however fully belonged to the winning side of the game. Monthey won the third quarter 21-16 and closed the game with a final 25-16 burst. Jonathan Dubas (204-F/C-91) stepped up with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Markel Humphrey (198-F-86, college: Marshall, agency: Three Eye Sports) and Mikael Maruotto (201-SF-91) notched 16 each. Lions de Geneve celebrate Coupe Swiss at the home court. They grabbed a 78-77 win against BBC Monthey in Geneve for the first title in 2017. BBC Monthey looked better in the first half and managed to win both quarters. They posted a 23-18 run in the first one and added an 18-12 rally in the second frame. Moreover the guests increased to 4 more points sealing a 25-21 edge in the third period. Lions de Geneve however erupted with a massive 27-11 surge to win the game. Marko Mladjan (205-F-93) stepped up with 16 points for the hosts and Chad Timberlake (194-G-84, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: BeoBasket) notched 15. Brandon Garrett (206-F-90, college: Murray St.) scored 12 and Ballard Antonio ended up with 11. Fribourg Olympic celebrate Super Cup title with a confident win over Union Neuchatel Basket. Fribourg Olympic pushed the tempo in the second half for a 75-55 win. Fribourg grabbed a 25-16 lead at the end of the first period and had 9 points advantage at the half-time. They led 57-49 after 30 minutes and then dominated the last stanza. Dusan Mladjan (198-G/F-86) was named MVP of the Finals with 19 points.
