Khimik celebrated the first ever Superleague title. They trounced Dnipro on the road to complete the sweep of the championship series. The game without a history. Khimik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dnipro to just 7 points in third quarter and to 14 points in second half. Khimik held Dnipro to an opponent 19.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Dnipro 44-32 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Khimik players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Dnipro's players. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Ramone Moore (193-89, college: Temple) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. His fellow American import point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield) accounted for 14 points and 4 assists for the winning side. He was named the MVP after the game. Four Khimik players scored in double figures. Center Sergiy Zagreba (214-94) came up with 13 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Pavel Revzin (194-83) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Dnipro in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Budivelnyk celebrated the second straight Ukrainian Cup title. They overcame Dnipro in the Final in Kyiv tonight. Michailis Anisimovas (215-C-84) posted 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge. Dnipro got to an energetic start. They poured in 22 points in the fourth frame to eke out a 2-point lead. Dnipro extended the gap in the second period. The visitors piled up a 41:37 halftime advantage. But Budivelnyk turned the tables in the third quarter. The hosts went on a commanding 24:7 rally to take a 10-point lead at the final break. Budivelnyk held Dnipro to only 12 points in the fourth quarter and earned the trophy. Denys Lukashov (190-PG-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 17 points, while Maksym Pustozvonov (200-SF-87, agency: Beo Basket) added 11 points for the winners.
